Balboa's First Sight Of The Pacific Ocean is wonderfully displayed in this 1890 lithograph. It is from The American Continent & Its Inhabitants Before Columbus.-Also the story of its invasion by Spain, France & England. Engraving by Gebbie & Husson Co. from the original drawing by H. E. Philippoteaux. Print is on 19th Century heavy white woven paper with some discoloration around the outer edges. The matted finished product is gorgeous with a bluish tint. This print measures approx. 8 1/2" x 11 3/4" and is in Excellent condition. Matte sold separately.
A note on the source: This history of the American Continent and the European Invasion was originally offered as a 30 part history lesson for the young. Each edition offered a special lithographed print which were published during the late 19th century. The prints were of the highest quality and represent the works of one of America's premiere engravers of the day. Their attention to detail makes these originals highly prized.
