This original cabinet photo (circa 1880's) features an the American Lawyer & Statesman William Maxwell Evarts (1818-1901). This portrait was produced by Matthew Brady at his National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.. The Honorable Wm. Evarts served as U.S. Secretary of State, U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Senator from New York. He is best known as the Attorney that represented President Andrew Johnson during his impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate. This Photograph measures approx. 4 1/4" x 6 1/2", is suitable for framing and is in Fine condition. There is some minor bleed-thru from the back stamp on the photo. It is a very nice original cabinet photo of a prominent American Statesman.
